Sin

It does not matter whether you are Christian (like I am) or not everyone believes in some sort of "wrong" or "evil" even if that view is twisted as an opposite view towards the larger populations views.

I speak as a Christian who sins daily yet can do nothing about it. No matter how passionate I get about curbing my sin, which surely is not often, I find myself still falling infinitely distant from any improvement. I will sin until I die be it 50 years more or 1, I will always sin, every single day. When I put it like that it sounds rather depressing to know that I had an unimaginable sacrifice given for that which I know I can never fix. This unimaginable sacrifice allows my sinful self to be given something I do not deserve.

I would like to point out that there surely are an abundance of things that can be covered while discussing sin though I write this mainly to sit back and reflect on how flawed I am.

There is no amount of praying or studying the Bible that will EVER bring me any closer to a sinless day. How difficult is that to swallow? What goal must I be looking for while I know that perfection surely is not one of them.

One thing I will assume is that cutting off both praying and reading will make my sinful self begin to doubt that which I believe and lead to a testing of whether my faith is true or not.

I could compare the Christian life to a leaky ceiling in a house under a ceaseless rain. No matter how much the owner of the house works daily to fix the roof it is just to much rain. The only thing he can do is keep his roof from collapsing. Even if he spends all of his time working on it, the rain will never stop and he will never improve his situation.

I will always sin and no amount of prayer or reading of my Bible will ever bring me to a comfortable resting place. I always should be praying and reading more hoping that one day my actions will be seen by someone else whose roof has collapsed and hopefully their home will be rebuilt with God alone.

I will tell you that realizing how much you have failed really is not something that is easy to recover from. I think we all 'recover' through sinning more to cover up where we are rather then stepping back and addressing the full situation.

Books and Authors

It seems like there is always a bone to pick with any author whom writes one sides view of a heavily debated subject. Which is understandable to some degree as anyone whom holds an opposing view is going to with to correct that person. Ofcourse there are some people whom are not so great at showing why they believe the author is wrong and there surely are authors whom are not the best at proving their point. I for one have read of those whom I have agreed with what they are trying to prove but I think their methods of proof are far from adequate.

Yes, there are many topics that are very difficult to write on as their is no 'black and white' answer. It just seems though that with many writers I have read there is a serious lack of effort in their book or whatever it may be. Maybe they didn't do enough research, or check their logic, or think to respond to possible holes in their arguement.

Though I think what is worse, is someone critiquing a decent author, and that critic has no ground what so ever to refute anything and basically tosses straw man after strawman all over the place.

I can not surely write at the quality that I would hope for though something isn't right if I'm reading something and smacking my head in disbelief for what ever it may be.

Biblical Inerrancy

I don't really have much of a solidified (based on my own personal evidence and research) opinion on exactly what I myself would subscribe to under the heading of 'Biblical Inerrancy' though I do think it provokes interesting thought.

It would seem that Biblical Inerrancy must be claimed more or less on faith alone. (as well as Biblical errancy but that is slightly different)

For even if the Bible were to state in a specific verse: "All original autographs of the inspired word of God are free from error" that would not get us anywhere conclusive. For someone to draw on it as proof of inerrancy they would first have to presuppose its inerrancy.

Now to prove errancy one must have access to original autographs of the book(s) in question. This is because translators and transcribers surely do error or atleast differ. Unfortunately no original autographs are in known existence. Though even if there were some what would thus be defined as an error. Hmm...

Looking for answers.

The title of this blog "Never forget to question" is something that I like to tell myself as well as others around me. The comment is not so much directed to encourage people to question others but to while doing that also question themselves. I personally hold many presuppositions and make it a goal to, many times, question my own beliefs. I do not do this because I have no confidence in what I put my faith in but to increase the confidence that I already have if I come to a realization of more truth in what I believe. There is always the chance that what I believe can be wrong and being prepared to always question can keep one from being ignorant of errors in his or her own claims.

When it comes to my own beliefs many of them I do not state them with absolute certainty. Though many times I will choose to defend them from an absolute standpoint as to not seem as though I am sitting on a fence. There are some things which I believe can not be refuted and even if that were true that would not make what I believe true. I think that many things, especially that within the Christian faith/doctrine can not be conclusively proven. One may say that they feel as if they have a stronger case to their own belief but one must be careful to not state absolute certainty.

I have created this blog because I believe that one of the best ways to learn more is to converse with people whom disagree with you. If you agree with everyone that you meet you will never be challenged into defending your own beliefs. Here are a few things that I personally believe and hope to write about on this blog as I work through them myself with hopefully the help of any readers and their comments.

I am a Christian

I believe that God created the world as depicted in Genesis

I believe in predestination

I believe in paedobaptism

I believe abortion is wrong

I believe in the OT as being a historical account of the past and not a myth

Of course there are many other things which I hope to write about. I have recently begun a strong interest in Philosophy and plan to make many posts about what ever happens to be on my mind at the time.
